Plain English summary: inkbookd collects information you give us (like your name and payment details) and some information automatically (like your device type). We use it to run the app, process bookings and payments, and keep you connected with your artist. We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
1. Who We Are
inkbookd, Inc. ("inkbookd," "we," "us," or "our") operates a mobile and web application that connects tattoo clients with tattoo artists and studios for the purpose of discovering artists, booking appointments, communicating, and processing payments for tattoo services (the "Service").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Service. It applies to all users — clients, artists, and studio accounts — located in the United States.
By creating an account or using inkbookd, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, profile photo, and date of birth.
- Profile and booking details: preferred tattoo style, reference images you upload, appointment requests, booking notes, and consultation messages.
- Artist and studio information: for artist/studio accounts, portfolio images, business name, studio address, license or certification information, availability, and pricing.
- Payment information: billing name, billing address, and payment card or bank details. Full card numbers are collected and stored by our third-party payment processor — not by inkbookd directly (see Section 5).
- Communications: messages sent through in-app messaging between clients and artists, and any messages you send to our support team.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, app version, and general usage patterns (pages viewed, features used, session length).
- Location information: approximate location derived from your IP address, and precise location only if you grant permission, used to show nearby artists or studios.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used on our website and within the app to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used.
2.3 Information from third parties
- Payment processors: confirmation of payment status, transaction amount, and limited card metadata (card type and last four digits).
- Login providers: if you sign in using Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive basic profile information (name and email) as authorised by you.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Facilitate appointment bookings, rescheduling, and cancellations between clients and artists.
- Process payments and deposits, and send payment receipts and confirmations.
- Enable in-app messaging between clients and artists.
- Send appointment reminders and booking-related notifications.
- Display artist portfolios and search results based on style, location, and availability.
- Respond to customer support requests.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Improve and maintain the Service, including troubleshooting and analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Reference images you upload for a booking are shared only with the artist(s) you are booking with, unless you choose to post them publicly within the app.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Mobile messaging: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
- With artists and studios: when you book an appointment, the artist or studio receives booking details, your name, contact information, and any notes or reference images you provide.
- With clients: artist and studio profiles, portfolios, reviews, and availability are visible to clients using the Service.
- With service providers: third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf — such as payment processing, cloud hosting, customer support tools, and analytics — under contractual obligations to protect your data.
- For legal reasons: if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of inkbookd, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection, with your agreement.
5. Payment Processing
inkbookd processes payments directly within the app for bookings, deposits, and tattoo services. Payment card data is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor, which is PCI-DSS compliant. inkbookd does not store full payment card numbers on its own servers.
We retain limited transaction records (amount, date, status, and last four digits of the card) for receipts, refunds, dispute resolution, and accounting purposes. Artists and studios receive payout information necessary to process and reconcile transactions but do not have access to your full payment card details.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, we retain certain information as required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Booking and payment transaction records are generally retained for a minimum of 7 years to comply with financial recordkeeping obligations.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update: you may review and update your account information at any time within the app.
- Account deletion: you may request deletion of your account by contacting us at the email below. Some information may be retained as described in Section 6.
- Communications: you may opt out of promotional emails and push notifications through your device or in-app settings. You cannot opt out of transactional messages related to your bookings and payments.
- Location permissions: you may disable location access at any time through your device settings; this may limit your ability to find nearby artists.
- California residents: depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws — such as the right to know, delete, or correct personal information, and the right to opt out of certain types of sharing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at contact@inkbookdapp.com.
9. Children's Privacy
inkbookd is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. Tattoo services generally require clients to be adults under applicable state law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email prior to the change becoming effective. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
